The DNA of New York

New York City is a place that almost defies the need for introduction. It's an iconic city that represents something to many people, even if they've never visited. For some people, that 'something' is a kind of New York City dream, a calling to make yourself in the city. In these episodes, local experts take us right back into the history of the city, long before it was called New York to discover the DNA that lies behind the city's unrivalled entrepreneurial zeal and its allure. We learn that the original rationale for the colonial settlement that became New York City was profit-making and to this day, money, diversity, creativity and density constitute its defining characteristics.
